DENTURES
Dentures are removable replacements for any missing teeth. There are two types of denture – full and partial.
A full denture replaces an entire set of upper or lower teeth. These dentures have a gum-coloured base that either fits over the roof of your mouth or in a horseshoe shape that fits over your lower gums. False teeth are fitted into this base.
A partial denture only fills in the gaps of missing teeth and are attached to the existing teeth using metal clasps or to crowns that are placed on the existing teeth.
There are also implant-supported dentures. Implants are placed in the gums, which attach to the denture and holds it securely in place. There are both advantages and disadvantages to this type of denture, so be sure to ask if they are the right option for you.
MOUTHGUARDS
Sports guards and regular mouthguards both protect your teeth from injury or damage. Sports guards are specially designed to protect against impact from balls, athletic equipment or from other athletes. Other mouthguards can be custom made to prevent teeth grinding during the night or can be worn to protect broken teeth, cut lips and other mouth damage or injury.
